Lakehill Preparatory School's talented musical theater students will bring Beauty and the Beast to the Lakehill stage on Friday, November 15, and Saturday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m. A preview of the musical will be performed for students on November 15, at 9:30 a.m.

Beauty and the Beast is a musical with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton.

The musical is adapted from Walt Disney Pictures' Academy Award-winning 1991 animated musical film of the same name – which in turn is based on the classic French fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. Songs include “Be Our Guest” sung by Lumiere (Luke Williams plus ensemble), “Beauty and the Beast” sung by Mrs Potts (Liz Blanchard), and “Belle” by the full company.

An arrogant young prince and his castle's servants fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast (Asher Chamoy) until he learns to love and be loved in return. Belle (Sophia Ganson) is a girl who is dissatisfied with life in a small provincial French town, constantly trying to fend off the misplaced “affections” of conceited Gaston (Keegan Clendenin). A wrong turn in the woods by Maurice, Belle’s father (Jonah Shaw), causes the spirited, headstrong village girl Belle to enter the Beast's castle after he imprisons her father.

Senior Kate Benedict is the choreographer.

The performance is suitable for all ages.
