Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Tour des Fleurs has announced that the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic is the presenting sponsor of the 10K and 20K races benefiting the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Hosted by the Dallas Arboretum, the race is set for Saturday, September 19 with the start and finish line located on the lakeside trail of White Rock Lake.

 

Touted as "Dallas’ best after race party,” this year's party will be a huge celebration of the 10thanniversary featuring a wide array of food and beverage donors, a physical therapy clinic at the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic booth, massages, yoga and freebies from a variety of TDF sponsors, as well aslive music provided by “Dr. Buz and the Medicated Trio.” This classic rock band features one of the W.B. Carrell Clinic’s own doctors, Dr. W.Z. Burkhead, Jr., as the lead singer.

This year’s race chairman is East Dallas resident Todd Howard, th+a architects president and Dallas Arboretum board member. Assisting him will be Logan Burgess who organizes race coordination and logistics.

 

Tour des Fleurs has become a tradition for more than 3,000 runners, and online registration is now open for the September event at http://www.tourdesfleurs.com/. Luke’s Locker is involved in the race, and participants can pick up their packets there closer to the race date.

 

The race starts and ends at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218.The new Arboretum’s 1,100-space parking garage, located directly across the street from the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden, opens at 5:45 a.m. for runners. The 20K race starts at 7:00 a.m., and the 10K race starts at 7:40 a.m.

 

Afterwards, the post-race celebration will feature fabulous food and beverages from Starbucks, Lucky's Cafe, Chick fil A, Highland Park Cafeteria, Alligator Cafe, Kroger, Tom Thumb, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Fresh Market, to name a few.   This celebration takes place at the Dallas Arboretum’s Martin Rutchik Concert Stage & Lawn overlooking the picturesque White Rock Lake.

 

The race also kicks off the opening of Autumn at the Arboretum, which features the nationally acclaimed Pumpkin Village with houses created out of 65,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, named one of America's best pumpkin villages by Fodor's Travel.
