The premier concert series “Cool Thursdays” at the Dallas Arboretum, sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, will return for the fall series with China Grove, the Doobie Brothers all star tribute band, on September 3. Dallas’ favorite concert series overlooks the picturesque White Rock Lake on the award-winning Martin Rutchik Concert Stage & Lawn.
Missy Whisler, Dallas Arboretum’s vice president of sales, said, “The spring/summer concert series sold out, and the fall series is sure to do the same as the seasons change and the weather cools down. The best way to secure your spot for this concert and the rest of the fall line-up is to purchase a fall concert subscription. Purchasing a subscription is the best value as it saves guests up to 55 percent.”
China Grove, the Doobie Brothers all star tribute band’s repertoire, spans the many decades and styles of the original and legendary California group. From the hit song “Long Train Runnin’” to the jazzy song “Takin’ it to the Streets,” this group plays through a set of memorable classic hits with uncanny similarity to the original group.
Whisler added, “It is exciting to have China Grove as our opening band for the fall concert series, especially since they play the Doobie Brothers classics with such passion and accuracy. We encourage guests to participate in the weekly costume contest to win prizes. This week’s theme is to wear leather or your best classic rock outfit!”
In addition to the coolest view of White Rock Lake, attendees can bring picnics and beverages or purchase food items from food trucks including BellaTrino, Bombay Street Food and The Bomb Fried Pies. The gardens are also open to stroll through before the concert to enjoy the breathtaking fall displays beginning September 19 including the nationally acclaimed pumpkin village, named one of “America’s Best Pumpkin Festivals,” according to Fodor’s Travel.
The concert series continues through October. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the fall concerts begin at 7 p.m. Single tickets start at $10 - $27 and are available for purchase online. For group tickets of 15 or more, call Susan Armanovs at 214.515.6520. On-site parking is complimentary for all concerts.
