Book Club Members Enjoy "Downstairs" Meal.

The Book Trotters met and discussed their February book selection, “Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey: The Lost Legacy of Highclere Castle” by The Countess of Carnavon at the home of Vickery Place resident, Pam Thomas, Monday evening, March 3rd.

Lady Almina was a real member of royalty who led a life very similar to Lady Cora in “Downton Abbey.”

Thomas served an Abbey inspired “downstairs” dinner of soup, bread and cheeseboard as guests compared both the differences and the similarities of the two ladies and the two castles.

After dinner, the group moved to the parlor where the conversation continued, spiced with speculation about Downton Abbey’s characters and their tribulations on this season’s TV series.

Next month’s book club pick will keep the group close to home with Irene Sandell’s “River of the Arms of God,” set in Texas on the Brazos River.
