B.J. Austin

If you are looking to make the world a better place, join the Disciples Women of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for the first meeting of the coming year.

“Freedom:  Promise and Struggle in the Bible” is the theme for this year’s ministry and award winning journalist B. J. Austin will be the guest speaker for the September meeting.

"Based on Exodus 3; 1-12, the story of God calling Moses from the burning bush to rescue the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt is an important story in the Bible, providing inspiration to people of all times who have longed for and continue to work for freedom,” B. J. said about the lesson she will share, one that is close to her heart in these conflicted times.

The group will meet in the parlor at 10:30 on Tuesday morning September 5.  Following the business meeting and the program, lunch will be served in Fellowship Hall.  You are in for a treat as September hostess Judi Proctor has planned a delicious luncheon.

If you are looking for a way to help the community while having a good time and making new friends, you may find your niche with the Disciples Women of Central Christian Church.

Outreach programs include a variety of philanthropies such as a coat drive for low income children, baking and delivering holiday pies to the Austin Street Shelter, collecting uniforms and school supplies for an area low-income school, delivering food to North Dallas Shared Ministries and Christmas cookies to elderly shut-ins.

However, you do not have to be a member of the church to visit the Disciples Women’s organization. The meetings are open to the community and people are encouraged to bring a friend.

Please email shelia0806@sbcglobal.net or call the church office at 214-526-7291 if you plan to attend so that there is an accurate head count for food preparation.  The cost for lunch is $5.00 per person and there is no place else anywhere near this place where you can learn so much, make wonderful friends and have so much fun for $5.00.
