Disciple Women Of Central Christian Church Enjoy Lessons In Hospitality

Join the Disciples Women of Central Christian Church Tuesday, November 1 to hear Valda Dracopoulos share the story of Abraham welcoming his divine guests— a lesson in the power of hospitality today.

Many who heard Valda last year when she recounted the suffering of the bleeding woman were so moved they wanted a video of the presentation.  You have the opportunity to hear her again at the Disciples Women’s November meeting.

As the group is learning through the series, “The Table and Beyond: Lavish Hospitality in the Bible” hospitality takes on many faces. One beautiful and interesting celebration is Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Of Mexican origin, the holiday, October 31 – November 2, is now being celebrated more and more in America.

Harmonious with the Disciples Women’s theme of hospitality, the Day of the Dead festivity involves creating beautiful altars with mounds of fruit, favorite foods of the deceased, bread (pan de muertos), flowers and candles to welcome the spirit of the departed back into our lives.

Following the Disciples Women’s business meeting and Valda’s presentation, a Mexican themed lunch will be enjoyed in Fellowship Hall to commemorate Dia de los Muertos.  The cost for lunch is $5.00 and can be paid at the door.

You do not have to be a member of Central Christian Church to attend the Disciples Women’s meetings. The group is a conduit for diverse connections empowering each woman to find her voice and live out her call.

Central is located at 4711 Westside Drive in Dallas and the meetings begin at 10:30 a.m. Please email Shelia Huffman at shelia0806@sbcglobal.net or call 214-827-4568 so there is an accurate head count for lunch.
