Dallas Independent School District Reverses Previous Recommendation

To Delay and Re-scope Bridge Plan Projects

The Lakewood Elementary Expansion Foundation (LEEF) would like to thank you for your strong response to the call to action sent just two days ago.  Within a matter of hours, articulate, thoughtful, and passionate emails poured into the DISD administration and Board of Trustees. Your support - as LEEF Executive Board members met with district leaders - made the difference. We are proud to announce that the district has ultimately reconsidered its position and has decided to move forward with the Bridge Plan projects at Lakewood Elementary, Stonewall Jackson, and Nathan Adams Elementary.

We are pleased to share with you the administration’s memo that has been sent to the Board of Trustees, reversing their previous recommendation to delay and reduce the scope of the 3 schools mentioned above.  After strong encouragement by the stakeholders at each of these schools, the district has chosen alternative options to deal with the bids that are over budget. These decisions will ultimately be better for all involved.

The events of the last few days are an excellent example of a community coming together with the district, to take swift and immediate action.
