Fund Run: Lakehill's Trek for Tech a Huge Success

When hundreds of people take to the streets for a good cause, a lot can happen.

Lakehill Preparatory School's 15th Annual Trek for Tech, the Parent Faculty Club's signature fall event, combined all the right elements: two great races, dedicated sponsors, enthusiastic volunteers, a raffle with fantastic prizes, live music, and beautiful weather. The results were a great time for all who attended and a lot of money raised for new technology.

Students, families, and faculty members put their best foot forward in the one-mile Fun Run while a large crowd hit the pavement for the 5K chip-timed race. Attendees were also treated to a live performance by Lakehill eighth grader Kaia Brown and her band Rosalynd as well as a live acoustic performance by freshman Ruby Sanchez.

Triathlete and trainer to several Lakehill students, Samuel Law was the first place overall male with a time of 19:01. For the third consecutive year, Lakehill senior and State Cross Country champion Emily Allton was the top overall female runner with a time of 21.13.

The winner of Run, Roger, Run was Barbara Witherite, correctly guessing Mr. Perry's time in the Fun Run. Michael Bracken was on the mark in Lakehill Lightning, pegging the fastest 5K Race time at 19:03.

Organizers report that 290 people registered for this year's event, a 17% increase over last year. The event again beat its projected budget, raising $45,000 for technology enhancements at the school.
