White Rock Lake is the crown jewel of Dallas parks. It recently celebrated its 100th birthday and the city of Dallas threw a month-long party in celebration, capped by "The Beach Party of the Century," which was hosted by For the Love of the Lake, an organization composed of volunteers that are dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the White Rock Lake.

Now, For the Love of the Lake is calling for additional help and reinforcements to participate in cleaning up White Rock Lake on "It's My Park" Day. The city-wide community service day also happens to coincide with Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce Up, so it's a good bet there will be plenty of people and fun.

Participants are asked to assemble at Casa Linda Plaza at 8 a.m. for breakfast and to pick up cleaning supplies. Breakfast will include drinks (coffee, orange juice, chocolate milk), muffins and other eats. Rain Fresh bottled water will also be handed out to keep everyone hydrated.

Clean-up will consist of picking up litter and debris, removing graffiti, cleaning up the shorelines and other general outdoor work. For more information, visit the For the Love of the Lake website.
