In the first invitational marching contest in recent Woodrow Wilson High School memory, the Woodrow Wildcat Band placed 4^th out of 10 bands in our division, missing 3^rd place by only three points at the Golden Triangle Classic held in Denton last Saturday.  Divisions are categorized by band size.  The Woodrow Wilson Wildcat Band has 64 members this year.   According to Mr. Chris Evetts, this is a fantastic achievement for a band that only had 8 members three years ago!   In the overall scoring of all 27 of the bands participating, the Woodrow Wildcat band placed 16^th.  This is comparing scores with bands like Southlake, Melissa, Princeton and Denton Ryan High Schools.   Now according to Mr. Evetts, “it’s time to fix the small quirks in the show by October 14^th for the UIL Marching band competition – the only contest that really matters!”  Come out and hear the Wildcat band at any of the Woodrow football games and share in the excitement!
