Dallas Arboretum is offering landscaping, gardening classes this fall

For stay-at-home moms and dads, passing the time while the kids are at school can actually be somewhat difficult to do. There’s only so much TV or reading one can sit through without getting bored. And with the weather finally reaching comfortable levels, it’s a great time to get out and move.

For those that have a keen interest in gardening and landscaping, the Dallas Arboretum is offering classes beginning Saturday, September 24. The Arboretum brings in some of Dallas’ most knowledgeable minds on the subject of horticulture and the classes are relatively inexpensive. Most of the classes last for two hours and are in the last morning, early afternoon.

According the Dallas Arboretum website, “Our Gardening and Design programs at the Arboretum will help you expand your gardening knowledge and give you the information that you need to create an incredible landscape from season to season.”

A few examples of the classes that will soon be offered:

  • Outdoor Living - Larry Brinkley, with Roundtree Landscaping, will show you how to reinvigorate your outdoor lifestyle by creating the perfect haven in your outdoor environment.
  • Organic Gardening Basics - Susan Gregory, Master Naturalist, will show you how to get your landscape growing the organic way. Learn how to harness the richness of your soil and put it to work for you.
  • Common Sense Design - Diana Harris, Dallas County Master Gardener, will show you the features to include that make a great garden.

The Arboretum will also be offering Creative Arts and Special Interest classes in October, so if those are more down your alley, then be sure to check them out. For more information or to sign up for classes, visit the Dallas Arboretum website.
