Woodrow Foundation Raises Nearly $23,000 On North Texas Giving Day

Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation raised $22,730 on Thursday in its first outing as a participant in North Texas Giving Day.  Funds raised on the day are enhanced by a $2 million pool from the Communities Foundation of Texas.

“We were in some very good company, near the level of St. Mark's and above Hockaday. We also beat the foundations for the entire districts of Plano and Richardson,” Alumni Vice President Kyle Rains said.

The foundation, which awarded over two dozen scholarships to the class of 2014, recently sent four students to SMU's Lyle Engineering School Summer Camp through the Phil Rolland '76 Memorial STEM Fund. There are over 60 funds and scholarships for Woodrow and its feeder schools.  It was also instrumental in raising funds to get the International Baccalaureate programs started at Woodrow and J. L. Long Middle School, the only IB schools in Dallas.

According to president Richard Vitale, Woodrow class of 1991, if you made a general donation on Thursday but would like for it to go to a specific fund, please contact the foundation at contact@woodrowfoundation.org
