It’s hard to find fun things to do with kids who are in the tween stage.  There are a lot of activities for the little ones, but for the 8-12 year olds, the choices are limited.  Many parents are not ready to leave them at home or at the mall.  So what is a parent to do?  Family Day at Pinot’s Palette!

Pinot’s Palette is a new sip and paint studio that offers class in the evenings for adults but wanted to offer something for the kids.  In November, they had their first Family Day where the kids ages 7-13 painted Pixie Petals.   The instructor, Cara Calvert-Thomas, was great at leading the kids step-by-step to recreate the painting.  All the parents were amazed with the results.

Sarah Maxwell said, “We would do this every week if we could.”

Owner Stephanie Burgard who lives in the neighborhood says, “I keep hearing we need more art based activities for kids so we’re looking into different ways to help fill that need with Family Day and a Drop and Shop day.”

For Family Day, parents can sit with their children and help them create their masterpiece.  Or for the older kids, they can paint without help from Mom or Dad.  The next Family Day is Saturday, December 3rd.

Drop and Shop is a four hour “camp” where the parents can drop off their 7-12 year old and get some holiday things done.  The kids will do at least one painting but will also have several crafts and gifts they can take home.  One of the favorites is the holiday cards.  The Drop and Shop day is December 19th.

And finally, Pinot’s Palette is looking to add a “Young Artist” Day after school.  In this class, kids will be able to get a snack and then be led through a fun painting that they will be proud to hang on the wall.  These classes will start in January.

You can book all of these classes on the easy-to-use website, www.PinotsPalette.com/Lakewood. For more information go to the website or call 214-82-PINOT(74668).

Today there are four Pinot’s Palette studios locations serving over 500 painters per week, and franchising the unique concept nationwide is an eminent next step for their continued growth. Those interested in attending a Pinot’s Palette class can book their seats online, bring a bottle of wine and some friends and let Pinot’s Palette provide the rest.
