This past weekend, twenty-two juniors and seniors from Lakehill Preparatory School had the amazing opportunity to attend President Obama's inauguration in Washington, D.C.

The group left bright and early Saturday morning and were met by a Worldstrides tour leader. While in D.C, the students took full advantage of the many historical monuments there. Favorite sights included the Arlington National Cemetery and the changing of the guards, Capitol Hill, the Lincoln Memorial, the Smithsonian Museum, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the White House, and many more. The long weekend was packed full of amazing sights.

The highlight of the trip was the Inauguration Ceremony itself. The students left the hotel at 5:00 a.m. to ensure a good spot in the crowd to witness the memorable event. They were able to experience the entire swearing-in ceremony, the inaugural address, and live performances from Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce. Those who attended the inauguration felt it was completely worth the wait and was something they would never forget. As junior Tessa Hornbach explained, "I thought the coolest part of the trip is that we got to be a part of history."
