One sixth grade girl and one fifth grade girl remained on stage for the final round of Lakehill Preparatory School's Spelling Bee on Jan. 14. But it was sixth grader Tyler McCall's winning combination of words, apotheosis and indefatigable, that earned her the title of Lakehill's Spelling Bee Champion. After many rounds of competition, McCall edged out fifth grade student Kira Willis for the title.

Eighth grade student Christian Giadolor took third place in the competition, going out on manageability. Noah Bernstein, also in eighth grade, took fourth, staying in until contemporaneous--after spelling herbaceous correctly.

Tyler's brother Matthew earned praise from his peers as the last fourth grader in the competition, going out on raucous

Lakehill's eighth annual Spelling Bee attracted 52 interested students in fourth through eighth grades. Interested students had to pass a written test prior to the competition in order to be eligible to compete.

Each year students from all over the country compete for the chance to represent their schools and communities in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. McCall will now compete on Feb. 19 at the University of Texas at Dallas against winners from other Dallas County private schools.
