On March 5, St. John’s Episcopal School welcomed school and Board representatives from local independent schools including The Hockaday School, Parish Episcopal School, Greenhill School, St. Philip’s School and Community Center, Ursuline Academy of Dallas, The Lamplighter School, Cistercian Preparatory School, Good Shepherd Episcopal School, Lakehill Preparatory School and Dallas International School to a presentation by Kimberly Betts and Danielle Robinson of Deloitte Consulting’s Atlanta office. Experts on the generation known as “Gen Z,” Betts and Robinson offered insights into how school leaders can effectively engage these newest members of the workforce, the first true digital natives. Making up 24% of the U.S. population, Betts finds Gen Z’s greatest strength lies in their intellectual agility. Comfortable working across disciplines while curating professional skills closely aligned with personal values, Gen Z employees prefer an environment that provides security and financial stability along with the opportunity to incorporate their authentic selves in their chosen field.

This presentation was arranged in partnership with DFW Teach for America, an organization dedicated to finding, developing and supporting talented individuals interesting in the field of teaching in order to bring equitable and excellent education to all children. Maillil Acosta Managing Director of Teacher Leadership Development with DFW Teach for America facilitated the discussion following Ms. Betts’ and Ms. Robinson’s presentation.
