Nexus Recovery Center, a nonprofit offering specialized substance use disorder treatment services for adult women in Dallas, has been the leader and expert in recovery efforts in North Texas for nearly 50 years. This past Saturday, the organization hosted its annual National Recovery Month picnic for its residents. Traditionally, the event attracts 500+ people including residents and community members, but Nexus Recovery Center was forced to pivot the event in the face of COVID-19. The organization refused to let COVID-19 ruin their plans and prohibit them from celebrating the success and strength of women battling addiction. The Nexus Recovery Center staff and residents remain more dedicated than ever to creating a sense of community during a time of chaos and uncertainty, reflected during both Saturday's picnic and the past few months of strength during these unprecedented times.
