In the 98 degree heat yesterday, 26 of the 28 players on the JL Long 6th grade soccer roster came out to Randall Park in East Dallas to practice, play and sweat!  A new record of nearly 9 gallons of water was consumed by these thirsty Buccaneers!  Some players seemed to be a bit apprehensive at first as we have an age range (assigned by YMCA) of 5-6th grade and we have currently 4, 5th grade players and we are a co-ed team.  Everyone stretched, ran laps and did some drills before the scrimmage.

On the field yesterday there was some great soccer played by both scrimmage teams on offense and defense.  Both boys and girls played really well together.

Many who were afraid they would not do well walked away with a new sense of confidence...like the little engine that could!

OK so, what does this mean?  With 28 players on the roster so far....this means we NEED another coach to assist in coaching a second co-ed team!  The time commitment is minimal with our practices being from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM on Tue/Thurs or Mon/Wed at Randall Park. Experience is not necessary and practice gear is provided.  Games will be played on Saturdays.l together.   Please contact Victor Aves at 214-616-0194 if you can assist...first game is September 8th!
