Woodrow Varsity Football

Last night Woodrow Wilson Varsity Football celebrated a decided win against Frisco Heritage, 36 to 21.  Seven of the sports critics at the Dallas Morning News predicted Frisco H. would win and only 2 voted for Woodrow.  Didn't happen quite like that!!  In spite of the drizzle, the Wildcats took the upper hand the first few minutes of the first quarter and kept it until the end of the game.  The Woodrow stands were filled with bright red, white, and blue attired and painted students as they celebrated the USA while passionately cheering on their Wildcats.  Every team member did an outstanding job in keeping Frisco Heritage at bay; the front line made it possible for QB Lucas Woltjen to pass for 169 yards for 3 touchdowns, and Woodrow defense took part in creating 7 Heritage turnovers!

This is the second win out of two games of the season; Woodrow's opening game was played at the indoor Star at Frisco--can anyone say Air Conditioning in August!?  Woodrow beat the Frisco Raccoons 13 to 10 in a nail-biter that was decided the last two minutes of the game.

Congratulations Woodrow Wildcats--2 for 2!

Next week Woodrow faces Wylie East High School on Friday, September 14 at 7:30 at Wylie Stadium, 2550 E Farm to Market Rd 544, Wylie, TX 75098.  This is an easy drive up 30E to George Bush.  Come out and cheer on the Wildcats!
