Lace up those sneakers and start carbo-loading! The 16th Annual Long Run is just days away.

Sponsored by the J.L. Long Middle School PTA, this year's event will take place on Thursday, October 4 and features both a one-mile fun run/walk and a 5K run.

Perfect for kids and families, the fun run kicks off at 6 p.m. and will circle around the middle school as well as the Woodrow Wilson High School campus. Runners looking for more of a challenge should sign up for the 5K, which winds through the historic, tree-lined streets of the Hollywood Heights neighborhood and the Santa Fe Trail. Starting time for the 5K is 6:30 p.m. Both races start and finish in front of J.L. Long Middle School at 6115 Reiger Avenue.

Registration can be done from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. the day of the event and the cost is 20 dollars for adults and $15 for ages 14 and under.

Proceeds from the event bridge critical gaps in the J.L. Long Middle School budget, including educational programs not covered by DISD or state budgets.
