Earlier today, Mr. Chris Evetts, along with five other fine educators from the local East Dallas area were honored by Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Every teacher was described as an innovator and teaching "outside the box." 49 teachers were nominated from 23 schools, so the competition was fierce this year.

However, what made Mr. Evetts' nomination so special and unusual is that he was nominated by SEVEN of his current students, not parents or outside people! Many describe "Mr. E" as demanding, but a true softie at heart and some even as a second dad. He puts in long hours and selflessly takes time from his vacation days to tutor and sometimes go on band competitions to assist his students.  The other recipients of this great honor were as follows: Austin Aeschbacher from Northlake Elementary, Loretta Smith from W. H. Gaston Middle School, Lexi McClure of St. Thomas Aquinas, Ellen Kufel of Lakehill Preparatory, Caroline Cooper of Dallas Academy.

This wonderful event was sponsored by Oncor and held at the Lakehill Prep Nye Family Environmental Science Center on Ferguson Road.
