This crime report covers February 18 through March 11.
On Monday, February 18 at 6 p.m., a runaway was reported from the 10400 block of Lone Tree Lane.
On Tuesday, February 19 between 2 and 2:30 a.m., the complainant’s Ivana Care Electric Wheelchair valued at $500 was stolen from the front of his apartment in the 1200 block of Peavy Road.
On Tuesday, February 19 at 6:04 p.m., a suspect made a threatening post on Facebook, alarming the complainant living in the 900 block of Bridgit Drive, who contacted police. The suspect stated: “Yea but guess what. Jail and an a** beating from you short as sh** father (who I’d probably stab to death BTW) is not gonna be in my future.”
Between 3 p.m. on Friday, February 22 and 7 a.m. on Monday February 25, a red 2007 4-door Honda parked in the 10100 block of Creekmere Circle was burglarized of $20 currency and a Sirius FM Radio ($100). There was no damage to the vehicle.
On Friday, February 22 at 7 p.m., a woman living in an apartment in the 1200 block of Peavy Road opened her door to an unknown person who threatened her life with a knife. Meanwhile, an accomplice located a $2,000 3-diamond gold ring; the two suspects then fled the location.
On Saturday, February 23 between 1:40 and 3:30 p.m., an unlocked black 1998 Ford SUV parked in the 1000 block of Emerald Isle Drive was burglarized while the complainant exercised. Stolen were assorted keys ($25), a Social Security Card ($0), Texas Driver’s License ($25), Regions Bank debit card ($0), a brown leather wallet ($15) and a brown leather purse ($40).
On Saturday, February 23 at 5:35 p.m., an unexplained sudden death occurred in the 10300 block of Lake Gardens Drive. Routine visits from the Dallas Fire Department paramedics, Dallas Police and the Medical Examiner occurred; the ME took possession of the deceased and all patient medications.
At 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 24, a gray 2004 Toyota Van was found parked in the middle of the 10000 block of Garland Road; the license plate showed the vehicle to be stolen from a Plano location. A suspect exited a nearby 7-11 and claimed the vehicle as his. He was arrested, handcuffed then field released; the vehicle was impounded.
On Sunday, February 24 between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m., a gray 2002 Ford SUV was reported to have damaged an iron fence ($300) and bushes ($200) at St. Bernards of Clairvaux, 1404 Old Gate Lane.
On Sunday, February 24 between 5:00 and 6:45 p.m., a gray 2007 Lexus SUV parked in the 900 block of East Lawther Drive was burglarized. Stolen were various IDs, credit cards from Sam’s, Macy’s and Bank of America ($0), a red wallet ($50), tan snakeskin purse ($30), Kate Spade sunglasses ($250), Kate Spade gift card ($100) and a Nine West gift card ($85). Damage to the driver’s side rear window was estimated at $400.
On Sunday, February 24 between 8 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. the next day, an unknown suspect drove a vehicle into the complainant’s backyard fence in the 1500 block of Tranquilla Drive, causing $500 in damage. A red side-view mirror from a vehicle was recovered at the scene.
At 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 24 at a restaurant located on Garland Road, a suspect exposed his penis to the complainant and grabbed it. The crime was categorized as “Indecency with a Child."
On Monday, February 25 at noon, a resident in the 1400 block of El Campo Drive reported his failure to locate his Ruger .380 semiautomatic pistol and ammunition (valued together at $500) in his home. The complainant was not aware of a break-in or the presence of visitors.
On Tuesday, February 26 between 5 p.m. and 11:20 a.m. the next day, an unknown suspect broke the driver’s side window ($200) of a white 2005 Toyota Pickup in the 9300 block of Angora Street and stole a book of compact discs ($18), a compact disc book holder ($10) and a Garmin GPS system ($150).
On Tuesday, February 26 between 6:20 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., a residence in the 1400 block of Moran Drive was burglarized; entry was gained by prying open the rear door. Stolen were a 40-inch Toshiba Television ($1400), Hewlett Packard G-62 Laptop ($500), Hewlett Packard Pavilion Laptop ($1800) and thirty items of jewelry (collectively $1000). Damage to the door was estimated at $50.
On Thursday, February 28 at 6:45 p.m., at the apartments located in the 1100 block of Whitehaven Drive, the left front fender of complainant’s gray 2007 4-door Nissan sedan was damaged ($500) by a black 2003 4-door Honda sedan that was backing up. The driver of the Honda fled the location.
On Thursday, February 28 at 10 p.m., two suspects received massages at Massage Envy in Casa Linda Plaza without paying. The first left after the massage to warm up the car; the second stated that she had forgotten her credit card in the car and exited the business. Both suspects fled the location in a black mustang. The value of the two massages was estimated at $231.
On Friday, March 1 between 5:45 and 7:45 p.m., a blue 2008 4-door Nissan parked in the 900 block of Winfrey Point Drive was burglarized. Stolen were a Chase VISA card ($0), a VISA debit card ($0), a red wallet ($30) and a tan Mossimo purse ($30). Damage to the driver’s side window was estimated at $200.
Between Friday, March 1 between 7:30 p.m. and midnight, unknown suspect(s) removed 70 sheets of decking from a worksite in the 9000 block of Diceman Drive, valued at $1,050.
Between 10:00 a.m. and 1:08 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, an unknown suspect entered a home in the 9000 block of Santa Clara Drive through an attic access in the utility room. The attic door had been pulled down and the back door to the home was open, but there was no reported damage and nothing was missing.
On Wednesday, March 6 between 12:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., a NAPA brand car battery valued at $80 was stolen from a gray 1997 4-door Ford Taurus parked in the 10400 block of Lippit Avenue.
On Wednesday, March 6 in the afternoon, a blue brontosaurus was reportedly chasing stray dogs and eating pigeons on Garland Road; it eventually disappeared into the Arboretum. Traffic was delayed at the new red light, but no credible witnesses came forward. *911* operators denied knowledge of the call.
On Thursday, March 7 at 1:10 a.m., a female suspect entered a business in the 10000 block of Garland Road and proceeded to lock herself in to the public restroom for an unusual amount of time. An employee knocked and the suspect came out; the employee noticed that the toilet commode cover was broken. The suspect denied responsibility for the damage, estimated at $75.
On Thursday, March 7 between 6:45 and 7:30 a.m., unknown suspects removed 70 sheets of decking ($1,050) and 57 bundles of shingles ($1,000) from a worksite in the 9000 block of Diceman Drive. (This is the second report of a theft from this site!)
On Thursday, March 7 at 10:30 p.m., a female resident of an apartment in the 1200 block of Peavy Road received a threatening text message to the effect that six guys were going to beat her up.
On Friday, March 8 at 2:45 p.m., a resident of the 10200 block of Vinemont Street saw a suspect delivering telephone books from a truck. He went outside to pick up a FedEx package just delivered to his front porch only to see the suspect carrying off his package; he yelled and the suspect jammed the package into his vehicle, a red 1998 4-door Buick sedan, and fled northbound on Vinemont Street. Stolen was a $150 light fixture.
On Friday, March 8 at 2:45 p.m., a hit-and-run Accident occurred in the 10200 block of Vinemont Street at a tight spot between a parked moving van and a parked vehicle. The complainant drove a gray 1990 4-door Mazda hatchback; the unknown suspect drove a red 4-door Buick. Substantial damage was done to both vehicles; damage to the Mazda was estimated at $2,000. No injuries were reported.
Between 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8 and 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 11, unknown suspect(s) pulled the telephone wires servicing the White Rock Thrift Store, creating $300 in damage and loss in the 10000 block of Garland Road. Power to the building was turned off and bags of old clothes were rifled through. A locked van may have been moved to gain access to the building.
On Sunday, March 10 between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m., a beige 1997 4-door Honda parked in the 10400 block of Lone Tree Lane was damaged in an apparent unsuccessful effort to steal it. The driver’s side door lock was damaged ($100), and the vehicle ignition was damaged ($300).
On Monday, March 11 between 4:30 and 6:15 p.m., a yellow 2002 4-door Mitsubishi Galant parked at a car wash at 10011 Garland Road was repossessed by Uncle Buddy’s Auto Sales. When the complainant went to Uncle Buddy’s, the business was closed, but she discovered that her cell phone had been stolen from the vehicle as well as $250 in cash; she did recover her purse.
