Shelia Huffman, Kathy Harris and Shelia’s Boston Terrier, Wheels, were at Jimmy’s Food Store at Bryan and Fitzhugh Saturday afternoon, October 20 promoting the centennial cookbook, Recipes and Recollections: Vickery Place Cooking Since 1911 and SPAN, Senior Pet Assistance Network.  Profits from the sale of the cookbook go to the east Dallas organization that works to keep low income senior citizens together with their pet by providing pet food and basic veterinary care.

Wheels is acting spokes dog for this year’s benefits and loyal Jimmy’s customers came down to meet him, enjoy a treat from the cookbook and support this worthy cause, --- one even bringing his own Boston Terrier. The local cookbook filled with Dallas history was sold Saturday to visitors from as far as San Antonio, Texas, Georgia and North Carolina.

A huge thanks to the DiCarlo brothers, Mike and Paul, for their support of the charity and to Mike Junior for helping with Saturday’s event.  The cookbook will be on sale at Jimmy’s through the Christmas holiday as long as the supply lasts.
