The Lakehill Preparatory School Warriors Cross Country team traveled to Waco for the TAPPS Cross Country State Championships on Oct. 20. The race was held on the Bear Run cross country course of Baylor University and included over 1,229 runners in the 10 classifications competing for both individual and team honors. The runners represented the largest TAPPS meet to date, and their performance truly exemplified the TAPPS motto: Competition with Honor.

Both of Lakehill's teams had a great showing at the course. Drew Norman represented Lakehill in the boys' 2A 5K and ran his toughest race of the season, passing many other competitors across the finish line. Dory Fine ran in the girls' 2A 2-mile race and ran an excellent race, finishing with a season best.

Emily Allton ran in the same race and entered Saturday as the defending State Champion. In spite of the added pressure, Allton was ahead of the other runners early in the race and never gave up her position. She crossed the finish line in first place and retained her title as TAPPS Cross Country 2A Individual State Champion for the second year in a row.
