Last night, the JL Long Buccaneers 6th grade soccer team players, family and friends celebrated the end of the season with an awards ceremony at Andreas Italian Restaurant.  This awards dinner has been done every season in the past 14 seasons to celebrate the season, hand out awards and share memories.

For some players, they will go on to try out and hopefully play with the JL Long Soccer school team as many have done before.  For others, they have used this as a stepping stone at the school to learn about their skillsets and try other sports.  Several players have already said they would be doing basketball, volleyball, cheer, track and cross-country.  Several players on this season’s team were new to the sport and would barely talk at the first few practices.  Now, with new confidence and new soccer skillsets parents are saying that they are acting much differently.  Whatever the reason a child decides to play on the team, ultimately the goal for this team is to have fun, meet new friends and walk away with some knowledge of the sport.

Although the Bucs only won one game this season, they definitely had some other close games, but the team was united in spirit and rejuvenation as they ate their pasta and probably wore some of their dinner home on their shirts!  A big shout out goes out to the parents, players and YMCA Staff as they have had to deal with our exceptionally rainy Spring and Fall this year.  Another big thank you goes out to Andrea’s Italian restaurant at 7260 Gaston Ave Dallas, TX 75214 who has hosted our event for several seasons and has always given back to our schools and community.  For more information on having an event at Andrea’s please email Gabriel at Andreas.restaurant1@gmail.com.
