James Medin is going to State!
Woodrow's Varsity and JV Wildcat Wrestling Teams competed at the District 7-5A Tournament at Conrad HS. Both teams came away with many top awards!
The JV Team came away as the District 7-5A JV Boys Champions. All of the Woodrow JV wrestlers finished 1st or 2nd in their bracket! What great news--when they become Varsity they will be unstoppable!
Our Varsity Boys finished 3rd place overall out of 20 schools at the District 7-5A Wrestling Tournament. Woodrow had 8 Varsity wrestlers qualify for Regionals and 1 Regional alternate.
Those 8 great wrestlers competed last weekend at the UIL Region 2-5A Wrestling tournament at Frisco Wakeland HS. The competition was strong and our Wildcats gave it their all.
After two days of matches, Woodrow is going to send one wrestler to State--congratulations to Junior James Medin! James placed 3rd in the Heavyweight Division after having 5 matches, with his final match going to "Triple Overtime" and defeating his opponent 5-3. James and Coach Barger will head to the Berry Center in Cypress on Thursday for the State Finals.
