Lakewood Artist, Shannon Kincaid, discusses her art and inspiration at the event.

Fashion Group International Dallas (FGI Dallas) recently hosted a “Do What You Love Series” featuring globally acclaimed Dallas artist Shannon Kincaid. The event encouraged the audience to pursue what they love while giving back to the community.

Surrounded by her fine art displayed throughout the restaurant, Kincaid shared her personal journey, unique accomplishments and passion of the arts while FGI Dallas guests enjoyed light bites, beer and wine by Wendy Krispin of Royal Sixty. Kincaid opened up to the audience about how art has been an outlet for healing in her life as well as the lives of others.

The highlight of the evening was when Kincaid shared her story about meeting Oprah Winfrey. Kincaid painted a piece of Winfrey holding a child and presented it to Winfrey at the Texas State Fair where she accepted the painting. The artwork now hangs in the library of Winfrey’s school, The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The event was held July 17 at Royal Sixty on 150 Turtle Creek Blvd.
