Lumedia Musicworks celebrates North Texas Giving Day

Early music ensemble will join more than 3,000 nonprofits in raising money during Community Foundation of Texas’ annual event in North Texas. Lumedia, which launched its fifth season Sept. 10, hopes to raise a record $20,000.

DALLAS - Lumedia Musicworks, the early music ensemble known for combining performances of music composed before 1750 with modern, self-produced short films aimed at attracting new audiences to the music, will join more than 3,000 nonprofits in North Texas in raising money Sept. 23 during the annual North Texas Giving Day. Dallas-based Lumedia hopes to raise $20,000 or more during the official 18-hour online event.

“We’ve grown tremendously in the past few years, despite having two consecutive seasons altered by COVID concerns,” said Julianna Emanski of Frisco, Lumedia’s founder and artistic director. “Lumedia’s attracted fans worldwide and some of last season’s short films won awards.”

Lumedia raised more than $11,000 last year because of its participation in NTGD. The funds, along with grants and other donations, allowed it to offer programs such as Welcome to the West, Eternal Source of Light and the popular Stories series about women composers. A Stories installment about Wilhelmine von Bayreuth (1709-58), a Prussian princess, is available at https://www.lumediamusicworks.com/season at no charge.
