Lumedia Musicworks is offering "Hymns of Angels: A French Noël" online through Jan. 2. It spotlights soprano Julianna Emanski of Frisco alongside soprano Jendi Tarde of Carrollton.

The first in a five-part series of virtual Spotlights by Dallas-based Lumedia, the concert also features instrumentalists Christopher Phillpott of Dallas and Molly Hammond of Houston as they perform inside Event1013 in downtown Plano. General admission tickets are $12 for the event.

Nonprofit and Dallas-based Lumedia is committed to showcasing and performing early music – before 1750. Lumedia's core team, which is highly trained in historically informed performance practices, performs on reproductions of instruments from the baroque, renaissance and medieval periods at historical pitch.

"A new concept for Lumedia, our Spotlights series features individual artists in striking locations across our state," said Emanski, who also serves as Lumedia's artistic director and has a doctorate in music entrepreneurship from UNT. "Using state-of-the-art technology, we're able to create a variety of virtual concert hall destinations with multiple cameras and high-quality audio."

Lumedia's entire 2020-21 season is online because of COVID concerns.

"Hymns of Angels: A French Noël celebrates songs of angels, as they anticipate the birth of Jesus. A soprano, Emanski has gained attention for her three-octave performance range and a high extension that "soars ecstatically" and is "simply gorgeous," according to Music Web International.

Emanski has performed at every major baroque summer program in North America.

After years of working in New York theater, Tarde retraced her roots as a trained classical singer and found a passion for both 21st century opera and the baroque. Since coming to Dallas-Fort Worth, Tarde has performed frequently with Orchestra of New Spain and directed the choral program at St. Ann, a Catholic parish in Coppell.

Phillpott, a cello and viola da gamba instrumentalist, is a core member of Lumedia. An alumnus of Texas Christian University, Phillpott teaches cello to more than 60 students.

A harpsichord instrumentalist and an alumna of the University of Texas at Austin, Hammond also is a core member of Lumedia.
