DALLAS, TX (December 8, 2022) - In the season of giving, the youth and adult rowers of White Rock Rowing, a Dallas-based rowing club, partnered with Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas to participate in this year’s Santa Project by purchasing and donating gifts for local children in need.

Rowers from White Rock Rowing and their families sponsored 20 elementary school children from the local club, ranging between ages 5-12. On Wednesday, Dec. 8, the White Rock Rowing crew delivered winter clothes, bedding and toys to the local club at Umphrey Lee Elementary School in Dallas ISD.

“We are so thankful for the tremendous support of White Rock Rowing,” said Charles English, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas President & CEO. “This organization has not only been instrumental in providing our kids with exposure to the sport of rowing, but continue to support our kids yearly during the holidays when so many of our parents need a little extra support.”

Earlier this year, White Rock Rowing collaborated with the club to offer free summer rowing camps to children. The camps, run almost entirely by the junior White Rock Rowing athletes themselves, gave children hands-on experience in a rowing boat and educated them about the benefits of rowing, including character and leadership building and the potential of scholarships for the nation’s No. 1 recruited collegiate sport.

“It is a tremendous joy to work with the Boys and Girls Club, whether we’re partnering to give free rowing camps to kids in the summertime or donating gifts to make their Christmas that much more special. Giving back is part of White Rock Rowing’s DNA because we don’t just build good athletes here, we also build leaders and bright futures. We look forward to more activities and collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club,” said Sue Ellen Chambers, president and board chair of White Rock Boathouse, Inc. – the nonprofit that operates White Rock Rowing.
