Joseph Contreras (70) leads the celebration as the JL Long Buccaneer players and coaches celebrate their Bi-District Championship win

The JL Long 8th Grade Football team won the Bi-District Championship by defeating Dade Middle School 12-6 on a chilly, wet, rainy night Nov 4 at Kincaide Stadium.  The Buccaneers scored on a 4-yard touchdown run by Dax Brown (5) on their first offensive drive of the game and then scored again in the second quarter on a Lucas Woltjen (11) to Dax Brown pass play.  The Vikings held the Buccaneers scoreless the rest of the game and kept the fans on the edge of their umbrellas by scoring a touchdown with 3:40 left to play in the fourth quarter.  After stopping the Buccaneer offense and forcing a punt, the Vikings took possession of the ball with 1:20 remaining, but this time Buccaneer defense stopped the Vikings on three successive plays as time ran out.

The Bucanners are undefeated this season, the first time the team has gone undefeated since 1971, and the last time the JL Long football team made it to the City Championship game.   The Buccaneers are led by head coach Loreto Trevino.

The City Championship will be Tuesday, November 11th, at John Kincaide Stadium, 9191 South Polk, Dallas, TX 75232.  More details will follow on the BubbleLife event calendar.
