The Woodrow Wilson football team (6-1, 3-0) had a bye week to rest up and recover from any minor injuries and will now try to improve their winning streak to five games when they travel to Couch Field to play Thomas Jefferson High School (1-7, 0-4) on Friday, October 21.

This will be a battle between teams on opposite sides of the spectrum in regards to their records. The Wildcats are the undisputed leaders of District 12-4A and have a multiple game lead over second place Lincoln. Thomas Jefferson, on the other hand, only recently snapped a 36-game losing streak. In eight games this season, the Patriots have been shut out in six of them.

Keller Timber Creek hung 73 points on Thomas Jefferson earlier this year; Woodrow Wilson probably won’t be able to match that but the Wildcats do possess a potent offense of their own. Quarterback Piers Christian is a dual-threat on the field, capable of shredding defenses with his arm or legs. He’s thrown for 1119 yards and 12 touchdowns and has also run for 571 yards and eight touchdowns.

However, Christian isn’t the only threat the Wildcats have. Running back Shaquille Dottin has gashed opposing defenses all season. So far, he’s run for 668 yards and 11 touchdowns and has also caught 15 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Woodrow’s top receiver, Andre Plata, is also a threat to explode at any moment. He’s caught 31 passes for 478 yards and six touchdowns.

On defense, the Wildcats will have to keep an eye on quarterback Robert Soto. Soto isn’t much of a threat to pass – he’s only completed three passes for 11 yards – but he has the most rushes on the team and has scored two of the team’s four total touchdowns on the season.

The game is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
