Woodrow Wilson rolls over Thomas Jefferson, 49-0

In six of the eight games they've played prior to their matchup with Woodrow Wilson on Friday, Thomas Jefferson has been held scoreless. That number is now up to seven after the Wildcats routed the Patriots, 49-0. With the win, Woodrow is assured of winning district 12-4A, their first district title since the 2006-2007 season.

Woodrow struck first and hard with three touchdowns in the first quarter alone, and all three touchdowns could be attributed to at least one of the Wildcats' three offensive stars. Quarterback Piers Christian ran one in himself and passed to his favorite receiver, Andre Plata, for the other. Running back Shaquille Dottin finished the first quarter by running in the third touchdown to push the score to 21-0.

For the game, Christian completed only 11 passes but threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Plata caught three of those passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. And Dottin rushed 10 times for 126 yards and three scores.

The Wildcats did all of their damage in the first three quarters but the defense didn't let down for a moment. For the entire game, Thomas Jefferson gained a net total of four yards. Quarterback Robert Soto passed for -2 yards and had -25 yards on the ground. The Patriots managed only two first downs all game.

Woodrow Wilson will play its final home game of the season next Friday, October 27 against second place Lincoln with kick off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
