Join Lakewood Elementary in celebration of Red Ribbon Week

Lakewood Elementary is celebrating Red Ribbon Week starting on Monday, October 24 and the school is inviting all its students to participate in the week long event. Each day will have a different theme that correlates to a helpful reminder or advice on how to stay drug-free.

Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. It serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of children through a commitment to drug prevention and education, as well as a personal commitment to live drug-free.

Here is what Lakewood Elementary has planned for Red Ribbon Week:

Monday - Hair's to a Drug-Free Life

-- Put your hair in a crazy-do!

Tuesday - Sock-it to Drugs

-- Wear your wackiest pair of socks or mismatch them for even funnier results!

Wednesday - Texans Give Drugs the Boot

-- Wear your school uniform and cowboys boots and/or cowboy hat

Thursday - Wear Red Day

-- Wear red shirts, pants and accessories - whatever is not red will need to be regular school uniform

Friday - Heros are Drug-Free Leaders

-- Celebrate the Seven Stallion Habits as well as being drug free. Students will choose a real-life hero (not Superman!) who they believe demonstrates the Seven Stallion Habits and dress up like that hero for the day! Students should come to school prepared to talk about their hero and why they chose their person.
