Lakewood parents: J.L. Long students aren't allowed to bring backpacks to school

J.L. Long Middle School has another reminder for its students: don't forget your All-Day Binders. All students are required to have their all-day binders for all their classes (including PE). The binder should be either 2.5 or 3 inches and contain a pencil pouch, a daily planner (provided by the school) and tab dividers.

The school says the reason for the all-day binders is to help prepare students for the organizational skills they will need in college. Students are also not allowed to bring backpacks into the building. This is to help streamline monitoring of safety and reinforces the need to keep binders organized.

School starts on August 22.
