Children's Cancer Fund Gala Honorary Co-Chair Roger Staubach; Gala Chair Pamela Moayedi; Jennifer Arthur, Children's Cancer Fund Exec. Dir. of Development; Honorary Co-Chair Troy Aikman

A Preston Hollow Resident and Philanthropist, Pamela Moayedi is committed to supporting research that saves lives, especially those of children

The 29th annual Children’s Cancer Fund Gala is coming up Friday, April 21, and Gala Chair Pamela Moayedi is encouraging the community to get their tickets for what will be a spectacular evening with exciting entertainment, fabulous Live Auction items, and an amazing cause.

The theme is “Broadway Nights and Runway Lights” and the evening will be held at the Hilton Anatole. The Gala features live and silent auctions, a children’s fashion show, dinner, drinks and dancing to musical entertainment by DJ Lucy Wrubel. It is the nonprofit’s 29th annual fundraiser and fashion show to raise funds for pediatric oncology research and treatment programs.

“Serving as Gala Chair this year has had a tremendous impact on me,” said Moayedi. “Meeting these children and their families and hearing what they have been through has made me more driven than ever to find a cure for cancer.  I’m a firm believer in research and am completely committed to supporting local research that saves lives, especially young kids. I am so blessed to have two healthy daughters, and I can’t imagine hearing the words that your child has cancer and then going through all that comes next. I am already thinking about next year’s event and what we can do to raise more funds!”

One of the many highlights of the night is the children’s fashion show, presented by Dillard’s, featuring children who are undergoing treatment for cancer at Children's Health in Dallas. The children, are the “runway models” for the fashion show, and are escorted by Honorary Event Chairmen Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach, along with many other celebrities, including several Dallas Cowboys’ players and event sponsors.  Honorary Event Chairs Aikman and Staubach have been involved for many years: Aikman for 20 and Staubach since the event’s inception 29 years ago.

“I was diagnosed with a tumor in 2009 at UT Southwestern, and I was terrified about what would happen next. Thankfully my tumor was benign, but my fear was real,” said Gala Chair Pamela Moayedi. “My experience has made me unflinchingly passionate about helping children in that kind of situation.

Moayedi became involved in the Children’s Cancer Fund event after spending time with the organization and seeing first-hand the impact the dollars raised make to pediatric oncology.  Through her own personal experience she understands the continual need for shared research to fight this disease.

“This event is a win-win for everyone.  Not only do you feel great giving to this very important cause, but you can receive some wonderful things in return,” added Moayedi.  “Take a look at these fabulous Live Auction Items, and get your ticket today!”

Proceeds from the Gala, slated to raise more than $1 million, go to Children’s Cancer Fund to support pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at Children's Medical Center. Since 1982, Children’s Cancer Fund has donated almost $8 million to the cause. The Children’s Cancer Fund Annual Gala is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser for pediatric cancer, with attendance at 1,000+ guests from North Texas and across the nation.

“With Pam Moayedi at the helm this year, we are looking forward to a spectacular event and to raising a lot of money for pediatric cancer research,” said Jennifer Arthur, CCF Executive Director of Development. “You have to see the look on these kids’ faces as they walk down the runway. It’s what inspires us in our work and in everything we do. They are fighters and survivors every day, but on that night, they’re stars and they’re shining brightly for their families, for the audience, and for each other.”

Individual tickets are $300 or $2,750 for a table of 10. Contact Children’s Cancer Fund at 972-664-1450 or visit www.ChildrensCancerFund.com/Gala for reservations and more information.

“Additionally, you won’t want to miss this year’s raffle item,” added Moayedi.  “We have a 2017 Mercedes GLA250! Tickets are $100 per ticket or $500 for six tickets. Winner will be announced at the Gala. You do not need to be present to win.”

“Hope to see you on Friday, April 21!  Together we can make a difference.”
