We have some registrants, but as of Monday, August 27, we still need more players. With the beginning of school and all of the other activities, the YMCA has extended the deadline for the J.L. Long team through August 31. Practice is set to start Tuesday, September 4, so if you know of anyone with kids, have them sign up!

In their continuing tradition of giving new sixth grade students at J.L. Long Middle School an opportunity to play team sports, the White Rock YMCA and PTA are hoping for another successful year of sixth grade soccer!

Under UIL Rules, sixth grade students cannot participate in school team sports, so this is a fantastic opportunity for children to stay active. Teams are open to all incoming sixth grade boys and girls and even seventh grade students of all skill levels.

The teams will consist of 14 players and will be co-ed. Registration is at the White Rock YMCA. Games are played locally, usually on Saturday mornings, and practices are held at Randall Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The first game is September 8 and the cost is $51 for YMCA member and $81 for non-members. Financial assistance is available for those in need.
