It's been 11 years since the first Lakewood Libraryfest happened back in 2001 to commemorate the centennial opening of the Carnegie Library in downtown Dallas. Since then, the annual event has been going strong and this year is no different. Come out to Libraryfest for a day of music, fun and most importantly, books.
Libraryfest will be held on Saturday, September 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Lakewood Branch Library (6121 Worth Street). Aside from more than 6,500 books and other media items to look through at the Lakewood Library Friends book sale, there will be live musical entertainment, free activities for the kids and raffle prizes from local vendors.
There will be five bands performing throughout the day at Libraryfest:
- 11:00 a.m. - MaryAnn & Dick Kitchens
- 12:00 a.m. - Rami Ackerman
- 1:00 p.m. - The Ackermans
- 2:00 p.m. - Hank & Bob
- 3:00 p.m. - Zach Youpa
Libraryfest was originally a yeary tradition carried on by all the public libraries in Dallas. Nowadays, the Lakewood Branch Library is the only one left standing. Libraryfest continues and endures with help from the Lakewood Library Friends, the Lakewood Library staff and the residents of Lakewood that come out and support the event every year.
Don't let tradition fade away; come out to Libraryfest on Saturday!
