The State Fair of Texas is one of the biggest events in the area and the entire state. Everyone wants to go but between cost of admission and buying tickets to spend at the fair, the outing can become rather expensive. Fortunately, the City of Dallas Water Utilities "Cease the Grease" program is offering two ways for residents to earn free tickets.
The first option is for residents to bring at least one liter of used cooking oil (no fatty grease) in a sealed plastic container to one of the recycling locations on either Saturday, September 8 or Saturday, September 15. There will be two drop-off locations on each day:
Saturday, September 8
- Whole Foods Market (11700 Preston Road) - 11:00 a.m.
- Whole Foods Market (8190 Park Lane) - 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 15
- El Rancho Supermarket (1411 Coit Road) - 11:00 a.m.
- El Rancho Supermarket (1515 S. Buckner Blvd.) - 1:00 p.m.
One final day to drop off a liter of used cooking oil will be on Friday, September 21 at the Cease the Grease booth at Dallas Greenfest at the Main St. Gardens beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The alternative option to get a free State Fair ticket is through the "Cease the Grease" Facebook page. Have a friend snap a picture of you putting one liter of used cooking oil in a sealed container into one of the collection recycling cages. Upon uploading that picture onto the "Cease the Grease" Facebook page, you'll be sent a State Fair ticket. Better yet, if one of your friends "likes" the photo, they'll also receive a free ticket.
One ticket per family and only while tickets last. For more information, visit the Cease the Grease website.
