Lakehill Warriors Named Bi-District Champions

The Lakehill Prep Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball teams defeated Fairhill on the road on Feb. 3. Austin Simpson led with 29 points and 19 rebounds followed by Drew Norman with 13 and Cris McCarty with 9. The girls team won 49-25 in a physical match up. Amanda Boles led the way scoring a career high 31 points. The girls dominated the boards and out-rebounded Fairhill by 12.

The Varsity Girls returned home on Feb. 7 to face rival Dallas Covenant with hopes to avenge a disappointing loss to them two weeks ago. It was a fantastic defensive effort all night that led to a 45-28 victory. Amanda Boles led the team again with 15 points while Ayana Heard pitched in 12 points. Alexis Franklin contributed 8 rebounds, 1 block, and 5 steals in the defensive effort while Jenna Burch paced the offense with 7 assists in the game. The win put the girls alone in second place with one game to play.

The Varsity Boys, tied for first place going into the game, lost to Covenant in a pivotal match up for the District Championship. Cris McCarty and Kurt Norman contributed ten points each.

The Varsity teams squared off against Desoto Canterbury on Feb. 10 at home, securing second seeds and the chance to host the first round of playoffs on Feb. 13. The boys defeated Heritage Christian and the girls defeated Rockwall Christian, earning both teams the title of Bi-District Champions. The teams travel to Abilene on Feb. 17 for the second round of playoffs.
