Lakewood Elementary is asking for finals donations from parents for the Girl Scouts Food Drive that ends on Friday, February 10. The Girl Scouts are hoping that the food drive will help raise awareness of child hunger in the community. However, the school has only collected 200 food items out of the final goal of 750.

The school can still reach its goal if every student brings in just one food item before the end of the food drive. The food drive is primarily looking for five items: peanut butter, canned meat, soup, rice, and beans. Food items can be dropped off at the collection box near the front office and in each modular building.

All donations will go to the North Texas Food Bank.
