Woodrow Wilson Basketball Off to a Sizzling Start

The Woodrow Wilson boys basketball team is taking over right where the football team left off. The football team finished the season with a 9-1 regular season record and eventually fell to Highland Park in the second round of the playoffs. So far, the boys basketball team has compiled an 11-1 record and show no signs of slowing down.

The team has only suffered a single bump in the road this season: a closely contested 81-76 loss to Houston Bellaire Texas Jamboree. Since then, the Wildcats have rattled off six straight victories and will next play Plano East Senior High School in the Dallas ISD Coca Cola Tournament.

Woodrow isn't a newcomer to the elite ranks of basketball. Last year, the Wildcats were ranked among the top-10 teams in the state and lost by only five points to the eventual state champions, Kimball High School. This year, they're led by senior Devon Williams, who has recently signed up to play for the University of New Mexico.

Woodrow is 1-0 in district play but won't play another district game until Wednesday, January 4 when school starts up again. Fans can still catch the team in action at the Dallas ISD Coca Cola Tournament at Loos Field House.
