Annual LGNA Cookie Drive is Asking Residents for Help

Each year, the Lower Greenville Neighborhood Association brings some holiday cheer to the firefighters at Station 17 with their annual Cookie Drive. The Cookie Drive is LGNA's way of saying, "Thanks for watching out for us." This year, the cookies will be delivered on Saturday, December 17 and the LGNA needs help from its residents.

The LGNA is asking residents to bring cookies, brownies and any other holiday treats to 5843 Vanderbilt Avenue. The treats can be either home made or store bought. The Lower Greenville Neighborhood Association will create a basket for all three shifts and deliver the baskets that weekend.

However, this year, the Cookie Drive is expanding to cover the Dallas Police Department. But, the LGNA is doing something different for the police officers. Instead of giving them baked goods, the LGNA will instead be collecting gently used stuffed toys. The reason for this is actually a little known fact: DPD officers carry stuffed animals in their patrol cars to give to frightened children involved in domestic violence calls or car accidents.

This is a great event for those looking to get into the holiday spirit. Give the gift of giving to those that protect and serve the community.
