D Magazine Names Woodrow Wilson Top High School and Feeder Pattern in North Texas

D Magazine's July 2015 real estate issue features an article "Where to Buy for the Best Schools".  At the top of the list is Dallas Woodrow Wilson High School, located in Lakewood/East Dallas.

The magazine said, "the most recognized feeder pattern into Woodrow starts with Lakewood and Stonewall Jackson elementary schools and continues with J.L. Long Middle School. Neighborhoods that feed into Woodrow include Lakewood, Hollywood Heights, the M Streets, and Greenland Hills, where houses range from $300,000 to $1.5 million (with a handful of $2 million to $3 million sales each year)"

It its analysis it used the most recent Texas Academic Performance Reports, STAAR results, graduation rates, college-readiness, percentage of students taking AP/IB tests (Long and Woodrow are the only secondary IB public schools in Dallas, Richardson or Park Cities), and average SAT scores (Woodrow has the top comprehensive high school scores in Dallas).

The story quotes Woodrow alum Francie Hansen, who after attending Drexel and University of Massachusetts Amherst, returned to Dallas to send her sons to the same schools. Her mother, Marilyn Hansen, is a former Woodrow PTA president.

In May, the Washington Post ranked Woodrow one of the top high schools in the nation and it was the third highest ranked comprehensive high school in North Texas http://lakewood.bubblelife.com/community/lakewood_reporter/library/3560722/key/351455974/Woodrow_Beats_Suburban_Schools_in_National_Rankings
