Friends and volunteers of Senior Pet Assistance Network, (SPAN) gathered Thursday evening, July 26, at the WAAS Art Gallery to enjoy happy hour and to honor Adelle Taylor, founder of the organization.

SPAN is a group of volunteers with a mission: helping low income senior citizens care for their companion pet. SPAN provides and delivers pet food to elders in need and funds basic veterinary preventative care.

Do you know a senior who needs help caring for their pet? Are you struggling to keep your pet healthy and cared for? Would you like to help support this worthwhile effort? SPAN is operated strictly by volunteers, and they do have 501C status so your donation is tax deductable. To learn more, visit SPAN at www.seniorspets.org.

Profits from the 2011 publication of Recipes and Recollections: Vickery Place Cooking Since 1911 were donated to SPAN last December. The cookbook sold out; however, it will be re-printed this year and again profits from sales will go to SPAN. Contact Shelia Huffman at 214-827-4568 for information on purchasing of the coookbook.
