This upcoming weekend is one day longer thanks to Memorial Day on Monday, May 28 and the residents of the city of Dallas will doubtlessly be using the holiday to relax, sleep or do errands. However, keep in mind that the officials of Dallas will also be taking the day off, so plan accordingly.

All public libraries and recreation centers will be closed, as well as the city offices. Public animal shelters will also be closed but animal services staff will be available to answer priority emergency calls in the field. All emergency calls will be handled by the 311 Customer Help Line. Call 311 in case of emergencies such as water main breaks, downed trees, signal lights out and/or animal control.

The police and fire departments will be available to handle any other emergencies. However, the administrative offices for both will be closed on Monday. Also, anyone hoping to pay off any fines or appear in court will have to wait until Tuesday, as the administrative offices will be closed.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day!
