The Visiting Nurse Association is calling on volunteers to sign up for 'Meals on Wheels' and deliver food to those that can't provide or prepare their own meals on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 16. Meals on Wheels is taking part in the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service, in which thousands of people will take part in hundreds of projects across the nation to help those less fortunate.

Volunteers will need to sign up by Monday, January 9 and can do so by checking out the VNA website. Volunteers will be assigned a route that contains 10-12 drop-off points and will given two coolers of meals - one hot and one cold. Each route will take an average of two hours to complete and volunteers can do their route alone or with friends or family. The coolers will be picked up at the VNA headquarters at 1440 W. Mockingbird Lane.

There is no training seminar is required for Meals on Wheels - all that's needed is a car and a heart to do good. Volunteers will be donating their time and gasoline expense to help out. To learn more about VNA and Meals on Wheels, check out the VNA homepage.
