Woodrow Historic Main Building and Science-Arts Ad Woodrow and J. L. Long Middle School have experienced dramatic growth since earning International Baccalaureate accreditation. Despite new additions at each school, more are proposed in the next DISD bond program.

Woodrow Wilson High School in the Lakewood area of Dallas is one of only 153 schools to earn all seven stars of distinction in the 2015 TEA state ratings announced last week. There are more than 8,600 public schools in the state.

Woodrow earned stars for:

• Academic Achievement in Reading/English Language Arts;
•Academic Achievement in Mathematics;
•Academic Achievement in Science;
•Academic Achievement in Social Studies;
•Top 25 Percent: Student Progress;
•Top 25 Percent: Closing Performance Gaps; and
•Postsecondary Readiness.

In April, the school beat all but two suburban comprehensive high schools in the annual Washington Post ratings based on AP and IB participation. Woodrow and its neighbor J. L. Long Middle School are the only secondary International Baccalaureate schools in Dallas. Neither HPISD nor RISD has any accredited IB world schools.

In July, D Magazine designated Woodrow and its feeders the top area to buy a home in the North Texas area.

For 2015 Woodrow again earned the highest SAT scores of any comprehensive high school in Dallas.
