The Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce held its 12th Annual Economic Summit luncheon on Thursday, October 18. C. C. Young was the Presenting Sponsor for the event, which was held at the Doubletree Hilton/Dallas Campbell Centre. The Summit serves as a "state of the union" with respect to the Dallas Economy.

Dallas City Council Members Philip Kingston, District 14; Tiffinni Young, District 7; Adam McGough, District 10 and Mark Clayton, District 9, reported on East Dallas economic development activities in their districts. Holly Reed, director of external affairs for Texas Central Partners, LLC, took the stage to present the High Speed Rail project, and Frost Bank and American National Bank Presidents Paul Koch and Steve White spoke on the economic climate in Texas and what helps business growth.

David Pittman presented the first annual White Rock Partners Award to The Honorable Gary Griffith for his extensive contributions to the East Dallas neighborhood, and former Chairman Bill “Bulldog” Cunningham was posthumously remembered for his service to the Chamber. Following lunch, Roland Dickey Jr., Founder and Chairman of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, discussed the growth and success of his business, as well as his cookbook, before taking questions from the crowd.
