It was a bitter cold and windy spring day on the Oklahoma River, but Dallas United Crew’s competitive high school team was hot on the course at the OKC Riversports Junior Invitational Regatta on March 22. The DUC Juniors participated in 17 races and brought home a total of 13 medals: six gold, two silver and five bronze for a remarkable kick-off to the 2014 spring racing season.

Highlights of the events: DUC Men's Novice team captured four first-place finishes in their four events; Novice Women took first place in the 4+ event, and 2nd and 3rd place in the 8+ event; Varsity Women finished a strong third place in the 8+ event, while the Men’s Varsity Lightweight 4+ was only two seconds off second place to take a solid third place medal. The course featured a 2,000 meter “sprint” race course, which is typical for the spring racing season.

Congratulations to all of the DUC Juniors, the largest co-ed rowing program in North Texas. Next weekend, the team travels to Gainesville, Ga. for the 28th Annual John Hunter Regatta on the Lake Lanier Olympic Course. Go DUC!
